Lucky Seven

A couple more weeks.....That's all I have between me and and another Boston Marathon, and I'm psyched.

And even though each marathon is special to me, this one is even more so. I'm celebrating my seventh anniversary. Seventh anniversary of what? I'm celebrating my diabetes diagnosis (I was diagnosed at age seven) at my seventh consecutive Boston Marathon. Congratulations to Me!!!!

It's not exactly a birthday party. But come on, with a disease like diabetes you need to find a reason to celebrate. There's lots of parts to diabetes that are not fun (well, now that i think about it all of it is not what i would call fun) but you've got to get up each day for a reason. You've got to find reasons you can celebrate the work and the effort you've put in to get this far. Diabetes is a tough disease, but if you can find reasons to get up each day and keep fighting then that's worth something. It is to me.

Here's a nice little pic that when I think of celebration, I think of this. It's a picture of me just after my diagnosis. It's in the spring time, maybe in the month of may (or possible april - around when the Boston Marathon is perhaps?) Perhaps i knew even then I'd be running Boston, and i just needed to start getting ready. (Notice the particulary cool knee high socks by some of the spectators - oh yeah, they're gonna make a come back someday).

Check ya later gang.
