Once a lifegaurd....

Once in a great while you have the chance to do something really extraordinary. The kind of thing that gives you goosebumps, not during that specific time but after it happens, even days after. Today was that kind of day. Today I was a hero...
Hmmm.....Not exactly what you were expecting, but read on.

So I'm out in Wisconsin shooting the last bit of footage for the Triabetes documentary. We had finished shooting for the weekend and were relaxing with friends and family for the Easter holiday.

I was inside the house, typing an entry for my blog bout the Boston Marathon, when someone screamed that Mason (age 6) was in the pool. (Background info - the house has a pool that was uncovered because it had been shocked the day before). Somehow I made it outside first and saw Joey (Michelle's eight year old son) pointing into the pool.

I didn't even hesitate.

So in I went to grab Mason. HOLY SNIKEYS IT WAS COLD!!!! It could have only been a few seconds but it felt like forever before someone was able to grab Mason from me to pull him up and then me.

So out they pulled me, and then i realized I had my PDA / Phone, and dexcom in my jacket pocket. I pulled them out and let out a huge sigh (when water drips out of the opening for the plug - you know that's never good). My pump - yea it was OK (Don't you guys ever read my blog?!?!? My pump is waterproof!)

Me and my new best friend...

When all was said and done, Mason was a little freaked out but ok. All in all it was a pretty huge day for me. Not that I'd want to ever repaeat this kind of day, but I'm glad i was there. (I'm sure Mason feels the same way:)
